Samantha J. Landi, MA, Licensed Professional Counselor

Samantha served in the United States Navy from 1982-1986. She has twenty years of experience as a paralegal in August Landi’s family law practice after receiving extensive college legal training. Samantha majored in Psychology at Georgian Court University and received her B.A. degree in 1995. She received a Master’s Degree in Education, 2002, and holds a Master’s Degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from Georgian Court University (2011). Samantha is a licensed Professional Counselor, qualifying her to provide a wide-range of services to people seeking her assistance.

Samantha was previously employed by Ocean Township Department of Human Services, an agency that provides County-wide therapeutic counseling to the population of Monmouth County. With this agency, Samantha headed the Adolescent Intensive Outpatient Program that receives referrals from both the Courts and from parents seeking help for their children. She also ran the Men’s Awareness Partnership Skills (MAPS), a men’s batterer’s intervention group at the agency. She has provided grief counseling to those experiencing the loss of loved ones; individual counseling for those experiencing extraordinary stressors in their daily life; and counseling for those experiencing post-traumatic stress disorders.

SAMANTHA’s Thoughts:

Therapists can serve in several useful roles through the divorce process:
  • Fostering constructive communication and dialogue

  • Fostering co-parenting skills post-divorce

  • Resolving disruptive emotional thoughts that prevent rational analysis of financial issues during the mediation process.

  • Resolving child-related issues and developmental issues that children experience where divorce is conflicted.

During a mediation I work to assure a safe and controlled environment where the emotionally charged issues can be addressed. I can help you hear and be heard when the hurt and frustration built up during the marriage threaten to drown out each of your clear commitment to a happy future for yourselves and your children.

I will help you develop a family parenting plan that gives explicit guidance for decision-making in most foreseeable circumstances—I offer communications "check-ups" and coaching to help you handle the changing circumstances of your lives and relationships.
